Team Reflections – India Missions Trip – what impacted you the most?

The biggest lesson I learned looking back on the trip to Kolkata is that I have really underestimated the power of prayer. We had the honour and privilege of praying over the missionaries, as well as some of the nationals who work with the Shaw’s, and saw visible signs of spiritual healing. We also sang and prayed and cried in a small brothel room in the Red Light District as four women experienced freedom in Jesus Christ for the first time. I won’t ever forget the tangible joy and love that filled that room. But while in Kolkata I was reminded that we have a very real enemy that has come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). In every other battle in history, there was no guarantee of which side would win. But our hope is in Jesus and we know with certainty that we are fighting for the side with ultimate victory, so we can fight with boldness. We have a direct line to a God that is so much bigger than anything we could face here on earth. But prayer needs to be our first response, not an afterthought, because the enemy also knows his time is limited and he’s going to do everything he can with the time he has left to do as much damage as possible. Prayer really does change things and we need to recognize that it is our greatest spiritual weapon.  – Brittany Graham

Team reflections – What impacted you most about the missions trip to India?

The most impactful moment of the trip is hard for me to articulate. So much happened in such a small amount of time. I truly believe that I underestimated the power of prayer. It has the ability to focus you on the presence of God and uplift those who are burdened by the call to mission and heal those who need it in the name of Jesus. The entire trip I believe was built on the foundation of the teams prayer and worship with one another. We all acknowledged that it was only with God that we would be able to have a lasting loving impact on the nationals and the missionaries on the ground. And because of that God always showed his presence as we walked the dark streets of Kolkata. – Ryan Mitchell.

Backpacking in the city with Capital City Mission was an incredible night of bringing not only food but the love of Jesus to so many hurting people on the streets.  We went out in 4 teams and all got to pray for a lot of people struggling with drug/alcohol addiction.  Many people asked for prayer – some cried as we laid our hands on them and asked Jesus to intervene and make Himself known to them.  It felt a bit like the book of Acts.    This experience is a huge reminder of the needs in our city and how much Jesus loves people!  Let’s do it again! See pics below.
